At least two children have been killed and 21 others wounded after a school bus swerved off a road in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and landed into a pond.
The Shanghai Daily cited government officials in Guiping city Saturday as saying that 24 kindergartners and a teacher had been onboard the vehicle when the accident took place on a rural road Friday.
Among the 21 injured children, three remain in serious condition. One child passenger, however, was able to return home with his parents as he sustained no injuries.
A local government investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police have questioned the bus driver, two of the kindergarten’s managers and a teacher.
