DAMASCUS
Six people were killed and scores injured on Monday when Syrian warplanes struck the city of Duma in the Eastern Ghouta area located east of Damascus, Syrian civil defense sources told Anadolu Agency.
“The airstrike left a building and several cars on fire, while a number of people sustained burns,” one source said.
Syrian regime forces have been besieging Eastern Ghouta for more than two and a half years, frequently targeting the area with airstrikes.
According to the UN, more than 220,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began in early 2011 between pro-Assad forces – including Lebanon’s Hezbollah – and armed opposition groups.
