ANKARA (AA) - Somalia's Ambassador in Ankara Mohammed Mursal Sheikh Abdirrahman has said, "We strongly condemn the terrorist attack onTurkish Embassy in Mogadishu killing one Turkish security guard, on Monday."
Abdirrahman evaluated the attack on the Turkish Embassy in Somalia and Turkey-Somalia relations to Anadolu Agency.
Stating that he went to Amasya to attend funeral of Sinan Yilmaz, Abdirrahman extended his condolences to the government and people of Turkey.
Abdirrahman said al-Shabbab claimed the responsibilty of the attack and added, "But I think that is not enough. Somalia needs cooperation with Turkish government to find out who is responsible for this incident. After two decades of conflict (in Somalia) all government institutions including national security are very weak. So I don't think they have capacity to find out who is responsible in this incident."
Emphasizing the upward trend in Turkey-Somalia economic relations in the last decade, Abdirrahman said Turkey was leading international efforts to rebuild Somalia, adding that "When famine hit our country in 2011, Erdogan said this is a test not only for Somalia but also for humanity."
Abdirrahman also appreciated Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's speeches expressing Turkey's support to Somalia even after the attack.
