Somalia's new president Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud has said that his priorities were to reach consensus and stop bloodshed in Somalia.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday, in the capital Mogadishu, newly elected president Mohamoud stated that he would work on a consensus among separatist groups in his country to establish a security and stability in the region.
"Our first priority is to secure unity but not through use of force," said Mohamoud.
He said that he was aiming to change Somalia's bad reputation over terrorism, piracy and hunger.
Hassan Seikh Mohamoud won the election last week against the outgoing president, Seikh Sharif Ahmed, by the legislative vote of 190 to 79.
Hassan Seikh Mohamoud is a teacher and an activist.
