LEFKOSA (AA) - Turkish Cypriot President Dervis Eroglu on Tuesday assigned Republican Turkish Party (CTP) lawmaker Sibel Siber to form a new government that will see the country to general elections in June.
UBP government, headed by Irsen Kucuk, collapsed last Wednesday after failing to secure a vote of confidence at the national assembly.
"l met with Siber whom l believe will receive a vote of confidence" Eroglu said, adding that a new government will be formed in a short time.
Eroglu wished a safe and sound democratic election, expressing hope that election the June 28 elections will produce a stable government.
