A U.S. drone strike on Monday killed five suspected militants in the restless North Waziristan, officials said.
A senior military official wishing not to be named told Anadolu Agency that an unmanned predator fired two missiles on a vehicle in the valley of Shawal near the Afghan border, killing five suspected militants.
The strike coincides with the Pakistani army's ground and aerial strikes in the adjoining town of Datta Khel, which killed 22 suspected militants earlier in the day.
According to Pakistani intelligence agencies and international human rights groups, including Amnesty International, over 3,400 people, of which nearly 70 percent have allegedly been civilians, have been killed in around 400 drone strikes since 2004.
Islamabad publicly opposes the drone strikes.
