In a statement released Thursday, US Department of State said that Secretary Kerry will join Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel for the U.S.-Japan Security Consultative Committee meeting in Tokyo, October 2-3. "The meeting represents the next step in further strengthening the U.S.-Japan alliance, providing an oppurtunity to build on our already broad and comprehensive bilateral relationship" the statement said.
Secretary Kerry will continue on to Bali on October 4, to lead the Department of State delegation to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting and to join President Obama for his APEC-related meetings. Stating that APEC was the premier forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade, and investment in the Asia-Pacific region, it said Kerry will participate in a broad range of multilateral and bilateral meetings with officials from APEC member economies.
