The White House said United States (US) was extremely disappointed over Russia's decision to grant asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.
White House Spokesman Jay Carney said "We are extremely disappointed that the Russian government would take this step despite our very clear and lawful requests in public and private that Snowden be expelled and returned to the United States."
Carney, stating that Moscow had given the US no advance notice before announcing its decision to grant Snowden asylum for one year, said the White House was reevaluating whether a planned fall summit with President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin should still occur.
