World powers and Iran have suspended talks over the technical implementation of the Geneva nuclear deal until after Christmas holiday, according to a statement by European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton’s spokesperson Maja Kojiancic.
The talks carried out between Iran and P5+1 countries (US, UK, China, Britain, France, Russia and Germany) aims to execute the agreement signed on November 24 regarding the curbing of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for eased sanctions.
"We expect that technical talks will resume before the New Year,” Kojiancic added.
No details were given on whether any progress was made in the talks which started four days ago.
The first technical talks between Iran and P5+1 countries started on November 9 in Vienna, however the talks halted on November 12 after United States Department of Treasury decided to blacklist more companies from Iran.
