US resumes processing visas in Colombia
'Our commitment to work together with Colombia to advance our mutual interests remains steadfast,' says State Department

WASHINGTON
The US resumed immigrant and nonimmigrant visa processing at US Embassy in Bogota, State Department said on Friday.
"Our commitment to work together with Colombia to advance our mutual interests remains steadfast," Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said on X.
After a dispute between US President Donald Trump and his Colombian counterpart Gustavo Petro over deportation flights from the US on Sunday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered the suspension of visa issuance at the US Embassy in Bogota.
Tensions decreased Sunday night, with the White House saying in a statement that Colombia had allowed the resumption of deportation flights and "agreed to all of President Trump’s terms."
Petro's actions have been criticized by Colombia's political opposition, who accuse him of provoking the diplomatic crisis and jeopardizing the country's relationship with the US.
