Nasdaq decreases 0.65%, S&P 500 declines by 18 points

US stock exchanges open Wednesday lower

ISTANBUL

US stock exchanges opened Wednesday with losses.

The Dow Jones fell 134 points, or 0.4%, to 33,918 at 9.52 a.m. EDT.

The S&P 500 declined 18 points, or 0.42%, to 4,370.

The Nasdaq also decreased 89 points, or 0.65%, to 13,578 at the time.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 2% to 13.60.

The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, rose 1.6% to 3.788%.

The dollar index added 0.12% to 102.68, while the euro increased 0.07% to $1.0926 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold trimming 0.5% to $1,927 per ounce and silver losing 2.3% to $22.63.

Oil prices were up around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $76.62 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $72.06.
