A statement by the airlines said that the number of its passengers had been 12.5 million in the first six months of 2008 and the figure rose by 9.7 percent in the same period of 2009.
THY also said that passenger occupancy rate fell 4.5 points to 69.5 percent in the mentioned period.
Turkish Airlines is one of the fastest growing and prosperous airlines in the world. It carries approximately 20 million passengers a year, with direct flights to 108 international and 33 domestic destinations.
