TOKIO
The northeastern Miyagi state of Japan was struck with a magnitude-5.8 earthquake, Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported on Sunday.
The quake occurred at 09.29 local time (GMT0029) at a depth of 50 kilometers (31 miles), according to the agency.
Authorities did not issue a tsunami notice following the tremor.
