More than 92% of job-seeking college students graduating in Japan this month have received informal employment offers, according to a government report released Friday.

Amid a serious personnel shortage, the job-securing rate increased by one percentage point from the previous year, reaching its highest level since 2000, Jiji Press news agency reported.

By field of study, the rate climbed by 1.7 percentage points to 92.4% for science majors and by 0.9 percentage points to 92.7% for humanities majors.
