ERBIL, Iraq
A delegation from the Iraqi Journalists Association (IJA) led by association president Abdullah Sajri visited Anadolu Agency’s Erbil bureau on Monday.
Delegation members presented bureau chief Salih Bilici and Hemin Baban, an AA correspondent who writes in Kurdish, with plaques of appreciation for their outstanding journalistic achievements.
Sajri, for his part, commended AA’s “reliable, impartial and ethical” journalistic activities in the region, noting that AA’s staff in Erbil worked under exceptionally stressful conditions.
“Anadolu Agency has given a voice to oppressed people of the Middle East,” he said.
AA, he added, “has provided the entire world with coverage of the latest developments in Iraq and the Kurdish region”.
Anadolu Agency currently has four bureaus in Iraq, in the provinces of Baghdad, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk.
