ANKARA
The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims last week rose by 3,000 to 217,000, according to US Labor Department figures released on Thursday.
The market expectation for the figure was 220,000.
The previous week’s number remained unrevised at 214,000.
The four-week moving average was 219,000, an increase of 6,750 from the previous week’s unrevised average of 212,250.
The US economy generated 263,000 jobs in September, while the unemployment rate stood at 3.5%.
