Palestinian leader orders new court for electoral cases

RAMALLAH

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree Monday to form a court to resolve potential issues concerning electoral cases.

Palestinian News Agency WAFA said Abbas ordered the court's formation under Iman Naser Al-Deen, a senior judge at the High Judicial Council.

The bench also includes Fayez Hammad, Mahmoud Abu Hasira, Basem Khasib, Fateen Saif, Mohamed al-Dahdouh, Mamdouh Jabr, Munis Abu Zina, and Nader Abu Aisha.

Based on Abbas's decree, legislative polls are scheduled to be held on May 22, presidential polls on July 31, and National Council polls on Aug. 31, 2021.
