The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said Thursday that it had intercepted and destroyed a drone over Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki announced the interception in a statement, without identifying the drone’s origin or providing details on possible casualties or damage.
The announcement came amid escalating hostilities between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s Houthi group.
Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the Houthis since 2015, after the group seized the capital Sanaa and other parts of Yemen the previous year.
