At the event, which took place within the scope of cinema training organized under the coordination of AA Academy, sections from Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami's 1997 film Taste of Cherry were shown.
Following the film screening, a talk was held with Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Faculty of Communication Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Serdar Öztürk, moderated by AA Foreign and Economic News Publication Manager Barışkan Ünal.
Prof. Dr. Öztürk stated that in the film, the audience goes on a journey with the character, has some experiences, and asks some questions about life and death.
Öztürk, who mentioned that the film was actually a philosophical film, stated that the film was an example of modern cinema, not classical.
Öztürk, who touched on the fact that action dominates American cinema, explained that the characters generally consist of "good" and "bad".
Öztürk noted that in modern cinema, especially in the cinema of Kiarostami, there is always hesitation, gaps and intervals.
"Kiarostami's cinema is a life-affirming cinema"
"Kiarostami is interested in his own agenda, instead of getting caught up in other agendas, what is life like, how do people continue their lives despite all the difficulties? How should we cope with life despite all the pain, all the problems, how should we resist all the difficulties, you actually see this in this film."
