Legendary sprinter Usain Bolt on Thursday won the 200m event at the Rio Olympics, staying on course for a historic triple triple.

When Bolt runs the 200m, the only question asked is usually if he will break his world record of 19.19.

That was the question Thursday night but amid weather conditions that included a slight head wind and light rain, the Jamaican superstar ran a slightly slower race at 19.78, yet it was enough to beat the field and capture his third straight gold medal in the event and eighth overall.

Canada’s Andre de Grasse won silver while Christophe Lemaitre of France took bronze.

Bolt has one remaining race, men’s 4x100m relay, to achieve an unprecedented triple triple, winning the individual 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay events at three Olympics after his golds in 2008 and 2012.

American swimmers Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feigen were indicted Thursday for falsely reporting they were robbed at gunpoint last weekend after a night or partying and drinking. Brazilian authorities said the pair and two other teammates lied about the crime after they vandalized a bathroom door at a gas station bathroom. A judge initially raised suspicions about the story after the group could not provide key information about the crime and everyone still had their wallets, watches and cellphones. Late Thursday, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger were seen boarding an outbound flight from Brazil after testifying.

The gold and silver medal winners in the women’s 10m platform diving competition are not old enough to be considered adults in most countries. Fifteen-year-old Ren Qian of China and her teammate Si Yajie, 17, captured the top two spots. Meaghan Benfeito of Canada won the bronze. China has dominated in diving, winning six of seven events with only men’s platform remaining.

Yasmani Copello of Turkey won bronze in the men’s 400m hurdles and with it, set a national record in a time of 47.92. Finishing ahead of the Cuban-born Copello was Kerron Clement who won gold, his third Olympic medal, and Kenya’s Boniface Mucheru Tumuti with silver.

Olympic officials decided in favor of the U.S. women’s 4x100m relay team that lodged a complaint about jostling after it failed to properly pass the baton between Allyson Felix and English Gardner in the race. The Americans raced all alone later Thursday and easily beat the time of 42.70 by China that had the slowest time in the preliminary race. The 41.77 times posted by Americans is the fastest time in the world this year behind only a 41.62 mark by Germany.

Britain’s Alistair Brownlee repeated as gold medalist in the triathlon and his brother Jonathon won silver. South African Henri Schoeman finished with the bronze.

Spain beat Serbia 68-54 to make it into the gold medal game in women’s basketball.

Serbia’s women’s volleyball team fared a lot better Thursday, stunning the top-ranked undefeated U.S. team that was fighting to win its first-ever gold medal.

Jordan’s first-ever Olympic medal came via a win in the taekwondo competition by Ahmad Abughaush who won gold by defeating his Russian opponent Alexy Denisenko.

And Chinese swimmer Chen Xinyi and Brazilian cyclist Kleber Ramos has been disqualified after failing drug tests. Both athletes had failed to medal; however, Xinyi’s fourth-place finish in the 100m butterfly has been annulled after the results of her test showed evidence of a diuretic. Ramos tested positive for a blood booster in July and failed to qualify for the Aug. 6 road race.
