RB Leipzig announced Tuesday that German forward Timo Werner had returned to the Bundesliga club from English club Chelsea on a four-year contract.
"I’m very happy to be able to play for RB Leipzig again. I had a great time here between 2016 and 2020, when we performed brilliantly as newcomers in the league," Werner said after the signing ceremony.
"We want to achieve a lot and of course, I want to become the first Leipzig player to reach the 100-goal mark," he added.
He helped Chelsea clinch the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League title and the 2021-22 Super Cup trophy.
Werner, who will wear the No. 11 jersey, made appearances for RB Leipzig from 2016 to 2020 and netted 95 goals in 159 matches, making him the Leipzig football club's record goal scorer.
The 26-year-old also made 24 goals in 53 matches for the German national team.
