Tennis: Roland Garros prize money increased
Total prize money for 2015 French Open reaches $29.9 million

The French Open's (Roland Garros) total prize money amount has been increased to €28.2 million ($30.1 million), according to a press release issued Tuesday.
The amount for the second Grand Slam tournament of the year was raised from €25.1 million ($26.8 million) to €28.2 million ($30.1 million), the organizing committee stated.
Tournament director Gilbert Ysern said that the raise had been made within the framework of a four-year-plan established for the period ranging from 2013 to 2016 and that a special effort had been made for players eliminated in the first week of the two-week competition.
The 2015 winners, whether in the men's or women's singles categories, each receive €1.8 million ($1.9 million).
The only of four Grand Slam tournaments that is played on clay, Roland Garros will be held in Paris between May 19 and June 7.
