BAGHDAD
Chairman of the Iraqi National Alliance, Ibrahim al-Jafari said that Turkey had to assume a positive role in encouraging political sides for a solution to the Iraqi crisis.
In a written statement released following his meeting with the Turkish Counsellor in Baghdad Efe Ceylan, al-Jafari stressed that Turkey's contributions to the solution of the Iraqi crisis were crucial.
Former Iraqi Prime Minister al-Jafari and Ceylan discussed political and economic relations between Turkey and Iraq.
Many Iraqi cities and states were the site of protests against the Maliqi government since December 23. The protestors demanded the release of prisoners and the annulment of the Counter-terrorism Law.
