ANKARA
News reports that appeared in international news outlets have said that Turkey contacted NATO and the United States and demanded deployment of the missiles along its border with Syria to create a de facto buffer zone against possible threats from its southern neighbor.
"With respect to the security of Turkey and NATO's borders, the issue has come up in the studies and contingency planning done with the alliance," the official told The Anadolu Agency who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
