CANAKKALE
Anna Kocumal, founder of Gokceada Private Greek School, said that the opening of the school would bring Greek youth back to Gokceada.
The crisis in Greece is even a reason for this, she added.
On March 28, Turkish National Education Ministry accepted the demand to open a school for Greek minority on Gokceada, an island off northwestern Canakkale province.
The school, which had been opened in Zeytinli village on Gokceada in 1951 as Hagia Todori Elementary School, was closed in 1964 upon the will of the founder.
Kocumal said that there were three classrooms at the school, adding that the principal of the school would be a Greek, deputy principal would be a Turk, and lessons would be in Greek and Turkish.
