Turkey’s international news channel broadcasting in English continues to expand its news network with an office in the heart of the U.S. capital.
TRT World has revamped its office in Washington ahead of the U.S. midterm elections on Nov. 6.
Specialized reporters in key states of Georgia, Florida and Texas will report on the election bringing in a new perspective.
Alican Ayanlar, a TRT World correspondent, will host high-level guests during a special elections program.
The Washington studios will also host the program "Bigger Than Five" on a weekly basis.
The program, to be presented by internationally renowned journalist Ghida Fakhry, will question the global world order, the role of the superpowers, and the traditional approaches to international issues, as well as encourage viewers to think out of the box.
TRT Director-General Ibrahim Eren stated that the Washington studios are the first in the series of new initiatives planned by the channel for its international outreach.
He added that there was a studio in Washington but the facility had been expanded and advanced.
A team of more than 30 people, including reporters, editors and engineers, will work at the office.
TRT World was launched in 2015 as a part of Turkish public broadcaster which operates 14 television channels and nearly 20 radio stations.
