MANISA
A high-profile trial into Turkey's deadliest mining disaster has been postponed for 24 hours, a local court ruled on Monday.
Today’s ruling from the court in Akhisar, Manisa province, western Turkey, comes after plaintiffs’ lawyers claimed one attorney could not represent the defendants responsible for workplace safety because of an apparent conflict of interest.
The trial has been postponed until Tuesday to allow defendants to have separate lawyers.
Turkey was rocked by the mining tragedy which happened in Soma, western Turkey on May 13, 2014. Three-hundred-and-one miners lost their lives after a fire broke out while they were working underground.
