A Turkish gendarme commander was martyred during an anti-terrorist operation against PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey on Saturday, officials said.
The operation took place in the countryside of Tunceli province.
The wounded commander was taken to Elazig Firat University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan tweeted that those responsible for "such bloody acts" would be brought to account.
Turkey has been carrying out counter-terrorism operations to eliminate terrorist acts across the country, which have increased dramatically since late June.
