Turkey’s largest convention center is almost finished and is scheduled to open its doors in April.
Located in the southern province and seaside city of Antalya, the new building will be built on 41,000 square meters of land and have a seating capacity of 5,003 people, according to project builders today.
TACA Construction says it will be second only to the Korea Culture Center which can seat 5,800 people.
The EXPO 2016 Antalya Convention Center will also house five halls with a 1,000-person seating capacity each, and eight others with a total seating capacity of 500.
Tayyar Akyurt, chairman of TACA Construction, said that the center would become one of the iconic landmarks of Turkey and also play a key role in stretching the tourism season in Antalya to 12 months a year.
Currently 80 percent completed, the center is set to host Expo 2016 Antalya, which will be the venue of many international meetings, panels and congresses during the six-month period from April 23 to October 30.
EXPO is a large and universal public exhibition held in various parts of the world. EXPO 2015 opened in May in the Italian city of Milan.
