At least five PKK terrorists have been killed in two separate incidents in Turkey's southeastern provinces, the military announced Thursday.
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement that five PKK militants were "neutralized" in a security operation in Turkey’s southeastern Sirnak and Diyarbakir provinces Wednesday.
In the operation in Sirnak's Cizre district, Turkish army seized 121 cartridges, hunting rifles and Kalashnikovs, and also destroyed improvised explosives.
In the same province’s Silopi district, the army seized 420 more cartridges, as well as two generators and four grenade launchers.
In separate operations in the region, at least 10 terrorists and collaborators were also been detained, Turkish military said.
The PKK -- considered a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July.
Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
