Turkiye Diyanet Foundation gives food packages to families of handicapped persons in Tirana
TIRANA, Albania
A charity linked to Turkey’s religious authority on Saturday distributed food packages to families of handicapped persons in Albania as part of its efforts during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Murat Ahmet Yoruk, Turkish ambassador to Albanian, thanked Turkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) for extending its helps to families of the handicapped people.
Yoruk said that with several Turkish agencies -- including TDV and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) -- and Turkish educational body Maarif Foundation in the Albanian capital Tirana, they are trying to keep unity and solidarity spirit in Albania alive.
Shefqet Taku, head of Albanian handicapped children and families' association, said the food packages have been delivered and thanked the Turkish government and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Additionally, TDV is planning to distribute roughly 1,020 food packages to families in need in Albania.
TDV carries on educational, cultural, social and humanitarian projects in different countries of the world in more than 145 countries.
