Kano suffered repeated deadly attacks last year

Nigerian authorities confirmed Tuesday that 12 people were killed when two female suicide bombers blew themselves up at a bus station in the northwestern city of Kano.
Police Commissioner Ibrahim Idris said a total of 12 people, including the two bombers, had been killed and five others injured in the blast.
The two women, posing as passengers, mingled with people gathered at a busy Kano bus station before detonating bombs wired to their bodies.
"A whole busload just went up in flames; everywhere is in disarray," Rabiu Madallah, an eyewitness, told The Anadolu Agency earlier.
Earlier Tuesday, at least 13 people were killed – and 31 others injured – when a suicide bomber blew himself up in Nigeria's northeastern town of Potiskum.
The bomber detonated the bomb aboard a 13-seat bus en route to Kano.
Last year, Kano suffered repeated attacks, with twin explosions killing at least 15 people – mostly students – last September.
But the bloodiest attack was on Nov. 28, when suspected Boko Haram militants bombed Kano's central mosque, killing over 100 people.
