BRUSSELS
Four armed men in Ghent reportedly entered an apartment and took a man as hostage on Monday.
After two of the men came out, police entered the apartment, At least three of the armed men were taken into custody.
Thirty police officers were reportedly called out to the scene, where authorities have closed the surrounding area in Daamport, a neighborhood in the northern part of the city.
Police reports say the crisis in Ghent is no immediate indication of terrorism.
Another siege and hostage-taking had taken place in Ghent in October, but this involved kidnapping and extortion, according to Belgian TV.
