AL-RAMTHA, Jordan
Major General Badr al-Qady of al-Ramtha city, northwest Jordan, said that one person was killed and four others were injured after a rocket was launched from inside Syria into the middle of the city.
Speaking exclusively to Anadolu Agency, al-Qady said: “There is one death after the rocket landed, after which four injured people were transported to the ‘Founding King’ hospital in al-Ramtha after being transported by ambulances.”
“The situation in al-Ramtha has returned to normal after the rocket landed. The residents understand what is happening in the battles inside Syrian land. There is cooperation among the relevant security apparatuses to deal with situations such as these,” he added.
Al-Ramtha, a Jordanian border city with Syria, has been experiencing suspense and worry due to the grinding conflicts between opposition fighters and regime forces, and constantly hears the sounds of rockets since Wednesday evening, on the other side of the border with Syria.
Rockets have repeatedly landed on Jordanian land from Syria over the last period, as a result of the constant fighting in the Syrian city of Daraa adjacent to the border between the two countries.
The length of the Jordanian border with its northern neighbor, Syria, is more than 375 km, punctuated with tens of unofficial ports that were and still are crossing for Syrian refugees who come to Jordan to escape the ongoing war their country is experiencing.
