President Almazbek Atambayev has accepted the resignation of Kyrgyzstan’s three-way coalition government after one party withdrew citing a “loss of trust” in the country’s prime minister.
An official statement on Wednesday said Atambayev had signed a decree approving the resignation of the ruling coalition, which was made up of the Social Democratic Party, the Ar-Namıs (Dignity) Party and the Ata Meken (Fatherland) Party.
Kyrgyzstan’s government collapsed after the Ata Meken Party withdrew from the coalition on Tuesday, citing a "loss of trust in the prime minister", Jantoro Satybaldiyev
According to the party, Satybaldiyev has "exhausted moral and political resources and cannot continue to occupy this high political office".
In line with the constitution, the collapse will automatically lead to the resignation of the government; a parliamentary commission will be entrusted to form a new coalition within three days.
The incumbent cabinet will continue to operate temporarily until the formation of a new government.
President Atambayev can dissolve parliament and call an early election if the assembly fails to elect a new prime minister in three consecutive votes.
The coalition government headed by Satybaldiyev had been formed in September 2012.
