MOSCOW
Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Tuesday that the families of the Moscow school shooting are to receive monetary aid.
Families of a police officer and a teacher who lost their lives in the attack will get five million rubles each, equal to 142 thousand dollars, said Sobyanin. “The police who were wounded in the attack also get three million rubles, equal to 85 thousand dollars,” he added.
A teenager shot a teacher and a police officer dead and left another police officer wounded in a school attack on Monday in northern Moscow, days before Russia hosts the Winter Olympics. The suspect was disarmed and detained about an hour after the shooting.
Sobyanin also said the private security guard who immediately informed the police about the school attack will be promoted in his company.
The result of the first investigation into the incident reveals that the attacker fired at police at least 11 times with a hunting rifle.
