ISTANBUL
United Nations (UN) workers continue delivering aid to the opposition-held districts of Syria's besieged Old City of Homs.
UN vehicles have been transporting fundamental needs to Homs after a three-day truce which allows the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of aid, according to local activists who wished to remain anonymous due to reasons of personal security.
More than 1,000 civilians have been evacuated from Homs amid a temporary ceasefire between the Syrian army and opposition forces, which officials are trying to extend again after a three-day extension on Monday.
Relief operations were disrupted by two subsequent attacks on UN and Syrian Red Crescent aid convoys on Saturday, with both the regime and opposition groups blaming each other for the attacks.
Homs has been under siege by the Syrian regime for over a year, with recent reports citing incidents of starvation, as people are forced to eat street animals and grass to survive.
