The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 9,779.57 points, down 1.04%, or 103.22 points from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,895.71, gaining 12.92 points from the close on Tuesday.

The lowest point for the index was 9,756.73, while the daily high was 9,904.24.

During the day, 83 indexes lost in value while 15 gained.

The daily transaction volume reached 102.7 billion liras ($2.84 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.57 trillion liras ($238.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 36.1100 as of 6.35 p.m. local time (1535GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 37.4390, and the British pound traded at 44.8570.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,894.30 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $75.88.
