Egypt's former Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Basim Awdah, has told AA correspondent he believes the Egyptian people would not compromise the gains of the revolution that took place in the North African nation in a 2011 uprising.
Awdah resigned his post following the military takeover of power that ousted the elected President Mohamed Morsi.
"The Egyptians have been deprived of rights and blessings provided by this country," he said. "What we need to do is exert ourselves to help finalize the revolution that was launched to return the rights of the people."
"The Egyptian people will not compromise the gains of the January 25 revolution," he said.
Awdah maintained national consensus on the political front could not be achieved while party members were being detained.
"I do not doubt the loyalty of the armed forces, but we cannot ignore the will of the people," he said.
