ANKARA
Turkey's Ministry of Forestry and Water Works will build a dam in Tunisia.
According to a statement released by the Turkish Ministry of Forestry and Water Works, Tunisian Minister of Regional Development and Planning, Jameleddine Gharbi, paid a visit to Turkey a short while ago.
In his meeting with Turkish Minister of Forestry and Water Works Veysel Eroglu, Gharbi brought up the issue of floods caused by the Madjerda River.
Following the meeting between the two ministers, a group of Turkish experts visited Tunisia between April 9 and 14.
The Turkish experts took notes as they visited the Madjerda River basin.
A decision was later taken to build the Melleque Amont Dam as a measure to prevent floods.
The dam will be built by Turkey's Ministry of Forestry and Water Works and is expected to cost around 97 million USD.
Minister Eroglu stressed that "Turkey's helping hand is now reaching all corners of the world".
