Two soldiers were martyred in a bomb attack by PKK terrorists in southeast Turkey on Tuesday, the military said.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the home-made bomb was set off during an anti-terrorism operation in Sirnak, the capital of Sirnak province on the border with Iraq and Syria.
In addition to the fatalities, four soldiers and two police officers were wounded, the statement said.
Turkey’s southeast has been the scene of significant military operations since December 2015, as the police and army seek to clear the PKK terrorists from urban areas.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July, since when more than 400 members of the security forces have been martyred and 3,700 terrorists killed.
