EDINBURGH (AA) - July 16, 2011 - Turkish Airlines (THY) began flights between Istanbul and Scotland's capital Edinburgh on Monday.
The flights will be held mutually four days a week.
First THY plane landed in Edinburgh today, and it was welcomed by Alex Neil, Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure & Capital Investment, with a ceremony at the airport.
Neil said that starting direct flights from Turkey was very important for Scotland, adding that the flights would boost commerce and tourism between the two countries.
