Colombian president meets Anadolu Agency delegation

BOGOTA, Colombia 

A delegation from Turkey’s leading news wire Anadolu Agency has met Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos ahead of the launch of a new Spanish-language service.

The delegation, including Anadolu Agency's deputy director-general and editor-in-chief Metin Mutanoglu was welcomed by the Colombian leader in the capital, Bogota.

Turkey's ambassador Engin Yurur was also present during the meeting.

Santos wished Anadolu Agency success with its coming Spanish-language service, saying Bogota was the right choice as a base for the agency's operations in Latin America.

Recalling his past career as a journalist, the Colombian leader said he would support the agency in every way.

Following the meeting, Santos tweeted photos of the gathering.

“I’ve received representatives of AA, which selected Colombia as headquarters of Spanish news reports," he wrote adding, “Welcome.”

Anadolu Agency’s 13th language service -- Spanish -- will be inaugurated on Thursday.

Currently, Anadolu Agency has 1,694 subscribers from 45 countries. It has offices in more than 40 cities worldwide, with journalist representatives in 97 countries and employees of 74 nationalities.
