Germany upset France, Slovenia dominate Ukraine to advance to quarter-finals in EuroBasket

ANKARA 

Slovenia and Germany are the first quarter-finalists in EuroBasket 2017 after beating their opponents in last 16 matchups on Saturday.

The first match of the day at Istanbul Sinan Erdem Dome was between Slovenia and Ukraine. Slovenia dominated its opponent from the start and managed to beat Ukraine 79-55.

For Slovenia, 18-year-old Real Madrid player Luka Doncic was in form, scoring 14 points. Big man Anthony Randolph scored a game-high 21 points for the winning side.

In the second match of the day, Germany was able to upset France in a thrilling contest, beating its opponent 84-81.

For France, Nando de Colo missed a possible game-tying three-point shot in the last second.

Evan Fournier -- playing for NBA's Orlando Magic -- scored a game-high 27 points, but it was not enough to beat Germany.

For Germany, Dennis Schroder scored 21 points while Daniel Theis added 22 points in the victory.
