Turkey draws 2-2 with Ukraine in World Cup qualifier

Turkey and Ukraine played to a 2-2 draw Thursday in a 2018 World Cup qualifier match at the Buyuksehir Stadium in Konya.

Ukraine took the lead in the 24th minute on a penalty kick by Andriy Yarmolenko who placed the shot into the bottom left corner.

Three minutes later, Artem Kravets scored the second goal for Ukraine.

Ozan Tufan scored Turkey's first goal at the end of the first half in the 45th minute with a header from a corner kick on the left side.

With time winding down, Hakan Calhanoglu scored the equalizer for Turkey on a penalty kick in the 81st minute.

In other World Cup qualifier matches in Group I, Croatia shut out Kosovo 6-0 and Iceland edged Finland 3-2.

The next stage of Group I qualifying matches will be played Oct. 9.

Iceland will host Turkey, Ukraine will face off against Kosovo and Finland will take on Croatia.
