The Turkish foreign minister will attend the sixth meeting of the Turkish-Ukraine Joint Strategic Planning Group (JSPG) in Ankara on March 30, the ministry said Tuesday.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, furthering bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in various fields will be on the agenda of the meeting between Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin.

The situation of Crimean Tatars and the latest developments in the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine will also be discussed, the statement added.

Ukraine has been racked by conflict since March 2014, namely in the eastern Donbas region, following Russia’s annexation of Crimea after an illegal independence vote.

The UN General Assembly voted to proclaim the Russian annexation illegal.

Along with many UN countries, the U.S., the EU and Turkey also do not recognize Crimea as Russian territory.
