A Ukrainian soldier has been killed in the eastern part of the country within the last 24 hours, Ukrainian Anti-Terrorist Operation spokesman Andrey Lysenko said on Monday.
The death comes after three Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 16 were others injured in recent clashes between government forces and separatists in eastern Ukraine.
Speaking during a briefing on operations in the Donbass region, Lysenko told reporters that in addition to the Ukrainian soldier who was killed, 13 others were wounded.
Ukraine has been wracked by conflict since April 2014 following Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine.
Fighting between Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russia separatists has seen around 9,300 people killed, according to the UN.
