ANKARA (AA) - Turkish main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu said that the youth gave a lesson to Turkish politics during the protests about Taksim Gezi Park.

Speaking at parliamentary group meeting Kilicdaroglu emphasized the need of investigating the police officers who used dispropotional force against the demonstrators, adding, "The world reacted this extremely."

Kilicdaroglu said the events so far gave 3.3 billion Turkish lira damage to the economy and held the government responsible of this outcome.

He added that the government put the blame on on CHP as usual.

Stating that protesting youth gave a lesson to Turkish politics, Kilicdaroglu said he had never seen such a crowd during any political party meeting in Turkey.

He added, "Youth from all parties, all beliefs and identities demand freedom and democracy. Politicians must read this picture very carefully."

While Kilicdaroglu criticized Turkish media for falling short of covering the events sufficiently, he also said, "Criticizing media is different that criticizing the media employees. We have to respect all media employees, regardless of their opinion. We know the hard conditions that they are working in."

He added media was restrained by the government which led the public to gather information from alternative resources, which is social media.
