At least 12 people were killed in a deadly car crash in southern Egypt on Sunday, according to a medical source.
A passenger bus collided with a car on a highway linking northern and southern Egypt, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media.
“Two people were also injured in the accident,” the source said.
The Health Ministry has yet to issue a statement about the fatalities.
Egypt has the Middle East's highest road fatality rate, according to figures issued by the state-run Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Around 7,115 people (19.5 people each day) were killed in road accidents in Egypt in 2011, CAPMAS said.
