At least nine people were killed and nine others injured in two separate attacks in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Sunday.

An explosive device exploded in northern Baghdad, killing two people and injuring nine others, an Interior Ministry source told Anadolu Agency.

Seven people, including three children, were also gunned down by unidentified gunmen in al-Dora in southern Baghdad, the same source said, requesting anonymity due to restrictions to speaking to media.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attacks, though Iraqi authorities often point the finger at Daesh group, which overran vast territory in northern and western Iraq in 2014.

According to UN estimates, at least 2,119 people were killed in violence across Iraq in June.
